I.chem.e. Symposium Series No. 110 Risk Assessment for the Siting of Developments near Liquefied Petroleum Gas Installations

چکیده

A computer based model has been developed by HSE for quantified risk assessment of above ground LPG installaty ions, initially for vessels up to 300 te. A representative set of events and their associated frequencies has been used to predict individual and societal risk levels. Sensitivity studies indicate that the BLEVE event frequency and, to a lesser extent, fireball mass have most significance on the predicted risk levels. Societal risk is shown to be strongly affected by the location of the population and assumptions regarding its density. The model gives reasonable agreement with another assessment method which has been used in Holland to develop siting criteria._ It is concluded that the model could be used as the basis for a LPG siting and development control policy in the U.K.

The Role of Quantitative Risk Assessment in Improving Hazardous Installations Siting: A Case Study

Safety distance has already been a main measurement for the hazard control of chemical installations interpreted to mean providing space between the hazardous installation and different types of targets. But, the problem is how to determine the enough space. This study considers the application of quantitative risk assessment to evaluating a compressed natural gas station site and to identi...

Polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons from gasoline-engine and liquefied petroleum gas engine exhausts.

Exhaust gases from an internal combustion engine, alternatively powered by gasoline or by liquefied petroleum gas, were analysed for polynuclear aromatic hydrocarbons. The engine operated a lift truck for the handling of warehouse goods. A combined condensation-filtration apparatus was constructed for sampling of the exhausts. The basic steps of the analytical procedure are summarized here. Sev...

Four Lump Kinetics Models to Describe the Aromatization Reactions of Liquefied Petroleum Gas

The aromatization reaction of liquefied petroleum gas has been studied by using three liquefied petroleum gases as raw material and LBO-A as catalyst, and four lump kinetics models networks have been put up on the basis of lump theory and the aromatization reaction mechanism. In the network the aromatization reaction species was firstly lumped into C 4 , propylene, low molecule hydrocarbon, liq...

A Consequence Analysis of the Explosion of Spherical Tanks Containing Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG)

A consequence analysis was performed in one of the gas refineries in Iran to investigate the risks andpotential losses resulted from accidents. Specifically, the consequences of an explosion in LPGspherical tanks were modeled using PHAST and MATLAB software. In this paper, three methods ofcalculation of PHAST software TNT, multi-energy, and BST were used. The results showed th...
